SHAM!! NOT an SSD Drive!
Brought to this product when I searched "2TB SSD." The description is vague, the HD is stated as being made by seagate, and when I got them (I ordered 2), there was a familiar non-ssd 'whir' when I started it up. The description is totally bogus, it's NOT an ssd drive!!
Stoped working 19 days after return period expired
Was working great. I don't understand what happened. Returned to my computer to find that the drive had dropped off. Tried reformatting several times, but whenever the computer restarts the drive fails to mount again.. Very strange and disappointing. Was 5 stars until it failed.
Cord doesn't stay attached
As you know with an external harddrive, if you detach the cord without ejecting the drive first, this can cause problems. Especially if you are in the middle of saving or working on a project. The USB cord into my computer worked. It was the end that goes into the LaCie portable hard drive that wouldn't stay. It would slip out with barely a movement of the hard drive. It is portable, which is why I bought it to pair with my MacBook Air, but I was never able to set it up or use it because the issue with the cord. I don't know if this is defective or if all of them are like this...it looks like the orange 'padding' around the drive itself is what prevented the cord from inserting in a secure manner.
5400rpm. Bottle neck makes thunderbolt subpar
Misleading description. Disk only spins at 5400rpm so there’s a blatant bottle neck in read/wrote speeds. While it’s nice that it’s in a thunderbolt enclosure, potential speed is never actualized due to the limitations of the disks within. It’s a rip off.
Very very good
I had initial concerns before buying because hard drives have always failed me. I'm on my 4th hard drive and this is my 5th, so i was a bit skeptical when i saw shockproof etc. WHen i received it, i instantly knew that this definitely falls under "Durable". the hard drive itself is incased in a very strong hard metal and the rubber casing does give you a lot of relief. the hard drive itself is average speed but it is important to note it seems to heat up a little big. the cable is really nice and i feel confident with it. the installation process was a bit confusing but it eventually made sense. will recommend, only regret is not getting the bigger storage option
